ACRYLITE® Optical

ACRYLITE® Optical

Description

ACRYLITE Optical mar-resistant extruded acrylic sheet is a continuously manufactured thermoplastic offering exceptional abrasion and chemical resistance alongside outstanding optical clarity. Available with a mar-resistant coating on one side (MR1) for cost-effective applications or both sides (MR2) for maximum protection, it provides 40 times the mar resistance of standard uncoated acrylic, resisting scratching, marring, staining, and daily cleaning with household glass cleaners. Key properties include 92% light transmission, half the weight of glass, impact strength many times greater than glass, and a modulus of elasticity of 480,000 psi. It excels in weathering, showing no significant loss in light transmittance or yellowing after 3000 hours of accelerated Xenon Arc exposure. Physical specs feature Izod notched impact of 0.4 ft-lbs/in and thicknesses from 0.060 to 0.500 inches, meeting ANSI Z97.1 safety glazing standards and model building codes for light-transmitting plastics (CC2 classification). Ideal for visual communications, signage, and printing, it suits high-traffic POP displays, exhibits, menu boards, directories, fixtures, LCD screens, and framing in schools, hospitals, and retail environments. The uncoated side facilitates silk screening, while its lightweight, fabricable nature ensures ease of use and long-term premium appearance.
