The 3M Scotchcal Matte Overlaminate 8522 is a premium 2-mil cast vinyl film designed to provide long-term protection for digital prints in signage, graphics, and visual communications applications. This transparent, pressure-sensitive overlaminate features a matte finish that reduces glare, making it ideal for indoor displays, fleet graphics, transit signage, smooth walls, windows, labels, and certified slip-resistant floor graphics. Key specifications include a film thickness of 2 mils (50 µm), total thickness (film plus adhesive) of 0.003 to 0.004 inch (0.08 to 0.10 mm), and a 78-pound paper liner. It offers an expected performance life of up to eight years on flat, vertical outdoor surfaces, with superior conformability to concave surfaces, corrugations, rivets, and simple curves. The solvent acrylic adhesive enables cold or heat-assisted application at temperatures from 28°F to 110°F (-2°C to 43°C). This overlaminate delivers robust defense against UV exposure, moisture, abrasion, scuffs, mild alkalis, acids, salt, water, and occasional fuel spills, while maintaining cleanability.
